Vector Marketing
I started my career by selling Cutco knives with a company called “Vector Marketing” in Columbus, Ohio. I had no idea the impact that selling Cutco would have on my life. It taught me perseverance, how to handle rejection, set goals and the importance of believing in what you’re doing or what product you represent. If you believe in something that is good and it helps others, then success is inevitable. My path to success within this business involved driving around the city, knocking on doors, asking for leads, going to people’s homes, doing in-home presentations and creating a consistent weekly plan. I learned that selling Cutco is like running a marathon—it’s not a sprint. If you follow the system consistently, you’ll continue to get results year round.
With the success of selling Cutco, I was promoted to district manager. I then moved north to Cleveland, Ohio. I rented an office space with a training room. I hired secretaries and I started the process of teaching people to sell Cutco the way that I did as a sales rep. I was interviewing, recruiting and training college kids to sell Cutco knives. During this time, I was also developing myself professionally within the cutlery business. I learned how to speak publicly, how to set goals and how to work in an efficient manner. It was a great experience and I had a lot of success. Ultimately, I became one of the top branch offices in the company while running this business.
The Ohio State University
While working with Vector Marketing, a friend of mine suggested that I apply to Ohio State. Without having ever taken the SAT or ACT (I was twenty-four at the time), I decided to go for it. I received an acceptance letter, closed down my Vector office and I decided to get a four-year degree in business marketing. I graduated from OSU on December 12, 1998.
Mattress Business
I opened my first mattress showroom in 2000 in Columbus, Ohio. Through overcoming trials and challenges the past twenty-five years, I have built six different companies using my skills and knowledge that I gained throughout the years to teach and train people how to run their own business through following the business model I learned during my years at Vector marketing and applying it to selling mattresses.
Community and Culture
After working in the mattress business for a while, I realized what a fantastic business it was. I started to realize that it was much bigger than what I expected at the beginning. It was profitable, it was fun, and I still believe it is the greatest business in America. I got to make my own schedule and be in control of my time, which, to me, was freedom. Most importantly, I got to help people get a great product at a great value. I also made a significant income, which was nice too.
I then started to share with others across the country on how they could do the same thing.

God’s Reel Fishing Team
Richard, Todd and I were brought together by our faith and shared love of fishing. We entered our first fishing tournament together with 800 boats. We won the tournament and decided to buy a new boat together and started our fishing team, GOD’S REEL, in 2024. We continue to fish tournaments and share our faith. Get On The Ark Podcast
On October 9, 2023, GOD woke me up from a dream and audibly told me to, “Get on The Ark.”
9 Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
This led me to starting a podcast sharing testimonies about how GOD has led and changed people’s lives. I have over 200 episodes that you can view on YouTube, Facebook & X @GetOnTheArk22.
